The Porch Pickup Program provides a way for RAS members to make goods available to others, in return for a small donation to the club. In the past, in-person auctions provided a mechanism for making goods available while also benefitting the club.
It is intended to provide a way for club members to share fish, plants, etc. in a way that meets social distancing expectations.
How it works:
A RAS member (supplier) indicates what item(s) they have availale and what size donation is appropriate for the item. Amounts can be aribtrary (i.e., in $5 and $1 increments).
Supplier posts an announcement (mailing list, facebook, etc.) describing the item(s), donation amount, etc. and works out details with recipient. (The followup exchange takes place offlist in private.)
Recipient makes the agreed-to donation via the donation link on the RAS web page, and the supplier confirms that the transaction went through. The online transaction includes a questionaire form where the recipient provides the name and email address of the supplier. RAS uses that information to notify the supplier when a transaction completes.
Supplier and recipient arrange for pickup, following appropriate social distancing procedures (e.g., leaving outside on porch for pickup).
